Cristiano Ronaldo believes he will miss out on a third consecutive Ballon D’Or in January – despite having “the best season of my career.”
Real Madrid star Ronaldo reckons the award will be going back to his biggest rival, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, in the next instalment in their ongoing domination of the prize for the globe’s best player.
Ronaldo rattled in 61 goals for Madrid during the 2014/15 campaign, outscoring Messi by three goals, and became the first player in Spanish football history to reach the 50-goal mark in five consecutive seasons.
But Messi inspired Barcelona to a Spanish league, cup and Champions League treble while Real finished the season empty-handed.
Ronaldo, 30, who has won a total of three Ballon D’Ors, said: “To be honest I think Messi is going to win this year because this kind of trophy, it depends on votes.
